Family

One might think living in the same house for the first 18 years of life would not be conducive to cultural learning and diversity. That however, depends on how you define Culture. Usually when someone refers to Culture they are speaking of a sector of society defined by shared geography, beliefs, experiences or customs. However, because each person brings a unique personality with them into life they, experience and react to all of these elements differently, we each develop our own kind of culture. Each person is carved into something unique by their accumulation of knowledge, experience, beliefs, values and attitudes. In this way interacting with anyone become a sort of cross cultural communication. No matter how small the differences. Growing up, this was exemplified in my siblings; people who you could hardly believe came from the same planet let alone the same gene pool. To effectively interact with each of them requires a slightly different technique. One will be offended by the same words or tones that amuse another. Personal culture and personality work together to form and shape one another within each person, giving everyone their own individual culture and history. Even those witnessing or experiencing the same event will be affected differently.
